The screen knows where it is.

Indoor media that reads the point-of-sale catalogue, builds its own schedule and changes on an event. Not a scheduled playlist: content that comes from what that place sells and reacts to what happens in it.

Runs on the hardware already on the wall, with no streaming and no dependence on the local internet.

    The context

Indoor media became a slide on loop.

Someone uploads an image, schedules a time slot, and the screen repeats it until somebody remembers to change it. Before long nobody looks. The screen stops being media and becomes furniture with a light on.

And when the internet at the point of sale wobbles, which is exactly when it always wobbles, the screen goes dark. Almost every signage platform depends on streaming, so the busiest hour is also the hour the media disappears.

A screen that repeats is a screen nobody watches. A screen that goes dark is worse.

    How we approached it

A schedule born from the place, running even without a network.

The whole platform was designed around two decisions: content comes from what the point of sale has, and nothing depends on the network at the moment it has to appear.

    01

    Offline-first by design

The player downloads files in advance and plays from disk. No streaming, no buffering, no black screen when the network drops. The network updates the schedule; it does not deliver the content.

    02

    The schedule is per device

Each device gets its own manifest. Two screens at the same address can tell different stories, because the entrance and the checkout do not share an audience.

    03

Content comes from the point-of-sale catalogue

SYNQi³ delivers the catalogue, and it becomes the raw material of the schedule. At Fabrik7, 1,353 products become 55 categories, because a category describes a business better than a thousand names. The channel also declares the editorial line that matters at that point of sale. A brewery screen talks about draught beer for that reason, not by chance.

    04

The schedule changes on an external event

The programming is not fixed. A webhook comes in and changes what is on screen: one piece in, another out, or the whole schedule replaced. The player checks for instant deliveries every thirty seconds, so the business can react to what is happening in it without waiting for the cycle.

    05

Content and advertising do not blend

They are two voices, separated from the design on. The editorial piece anchors in what the point of sale has; the merchandising piece is the only one that names a product. Whoever is in front of the screen tells them apart without having to think.

    06

    The system does not invent

The merchandising piece refuses to write a claim nobody measured. "The best seller here" only reaches the screen when there is measurement behind it. On a public screen, the worst defect is the one that looks right.

    Impact

What changes at the point of sale.

The screen stops being a poster with a light on and becomes part of the room: it talks about what that place sells, it reacts to what happens in it, it changes without somebody uploading art every week, and it stays on when the internet is not. It is media people actually read, because it is about the place they are standing in.

    Want to see it running?

The platform is operating in a real location. The conversation starts with the place: how many screens, what kind of audience, and what you sell.

Engineering is not decoration. It is direction.
